In the opening friendly of the summer, against Nottingham Forest, Baraja started several talents who are on the cusp of becoming regulars for the senior side. Alberto Marí, Fran Pérez, Diego López, Cristhian Mosquera and Jesús Vázquez have all debuted in LaLiga for Valencia CF and are targeting more appearances in the upcoming season. They were joined by Ali Fadal, one of the standouts for the Juvenil A team last year.
In the second half, the coach brought on VCF Academy players Javi Navarro, Martín Tejón, Hugo González, César Tárrega and Pablo Gozálbez, as well as recent VCF Mestalla signing Diego Moreno.
The game, decided by a goal from 2022/23 breakout star Javi Guerra, also saw Rivero, Rubén Iranzo and Koba Leïn play in the second half.
